Live Weather

WeatherNet is about LIVE Weather, not predictions...
We're building a service for busy people interested in what's happening now, not tomorrow. Armed with LIVE Weather conditions for your area or destination you can plan your day instantly, whether you're travelling to work, a day trip to the vineyards, off to the footy or other outdoor activities such as, golf, fishing, sailing, surfing, BBQ's, even your wedding day! You'll be able to plan for the maximum use of your time or decide to stay home and avoid unexpected inclement weather.

Private Weather Stations
There are 100's of privately owned weather stations throughout Australia and New Zealand of which only an estimated 12% are providing public access via the internet (of those capable of doing so). This low percentage is predominantly due to the technical knowledge required to build a website capable of delivering the data in a ‘user friendly’ format. By simplifying the data to web output process, WeatherNet is providing station owners with easy to understand setup instructions and Members support via our Forum.

Income Generation
Once established, WeatherNet is planning to commercialise the web portals with advertising and sponsorship of which the station owners will be entitled to a share of revenue.

Getting Involved
Joining our project is easy and rewarding. For those whom already have a web based station its only a 5min process. Those new to weather stations will require about 1-2 hours to install the station and setup the web delivery system and you'll only need to allow between 30-60mins a month to maintain the service. If you currently operate a weather station or are interested in getting involved in the project visit the Join WeatherNet section for more information.

Public Web Portals
The Live information will be available through our web portals: www.localweather.com.au providing weather consoles by State, Region & Town. Phase 1 will launch during September 2007.
